Military & Veteran Services Newsletter

January 15, 2019

Welcome back students, and welcome to the Spring semester! Below are a few quick updates from the Office of Military and Veteran Services.

Office Hours: Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 am-12 pm, 1-4 pm, with other times available by request. You can call or stop by during these times or schedule time to meet at https://meetme.so/milvet.

VA Benefits Certification: If you intend to use VA educational benefits this semester but haven’t submitted your certification paperwork to your School Certifying Official yet, we recommend doing so as soon as possible so you can get your housing and book allowances from the VA in a timely manner. If you’re unsure about whether you’ve been certified, please contact our office to check your status. You can find more information about the certification process at https://veterans.wustl.edu/students/va-educational-benefits/.

WashU Refund Delays: Student Accounting is currently experiencing delays in processing refunds this semester. Refunds should be processed by the end of the month, but if you don’t see a refund posted to your account by the end of the week, notify Student Accounting at student.billing@wustl.edu or (314) 935-5274.

Impacted by the Federal Shutdown: Are you federally employed and impacted by the federal shutdown? The VA is still open for business and is actively working to provide furloughed Veteran federal employees affected with much needed support and relief. Our office is also here to serve as a resource. If you are affected and are in need of support, please contact us so we can provide direct assistance in connecting you with community resources: https://www.blogs.va.gov/VAntage/55619/55619/.

New Office Facebook Page: You can now follow WashU Military and Veteran Services on Facebook. Our goal is to get relevant information to you faster than before, and we look forward to serving you on this platform: https://www.facebook.com/washumilvet/.

WUVets Facebook Page: Another Facebook page to follow is the WashU Student Veterans Association page: https://www.facebook.com/wuvets. This page keeps you up-to-date with student events, peer networking opportunities and other useful information.

Please reach out if we can be of any support to you. Best wishes for a successful semester!
