Military & Veteran Services Newsletter

February 16, 2019 (WUVets Email)

Dear WUVets members, cadets, faculty, supporters and friends,

This Friday, February 22nd at noon in Liberman Graduate Center, Danforth University Center Rm 300, WUVets will hold its executive board elections for the 2019-2020 academic year. Per our constitution, elections are open to any military veteran, ROTC cadet, family member or supporter that is enrolled at Washington University in St. Louis.

We need YOU to run for office!

Most of the existing executive board for WUVets are all graduating this year and the remaining will not be able to help to the extent they did this academic year. This means, without YOU running for office, WUVets may lose its’ momentum.

Over the past few years, we have grown from four members to over fifty. WUVets won Student Veterans of America- Chapter of the Year in 2017 and Angela Peacock, WUVets President this year, finished in the top 10 for Student Veteran of the Year for 2019. In the last few years, we have raised enough money and made connections with the community to sustain WUVets for years to come. Previous WUVets members lobbied for an office to assist student veterans and our service to be recognized during commencement. Only more good things can come from you getting involved.

We have a strong legacy and we hope you can help us continue our efforts to support student veterans, their family members and all military-connected students on our campus.

There’s nothing to do except show up this Friday and run for office. Each person will be given an opportunity to share why they are running and then everyone will leave the room so that others can vote. It’s that easy. Come run or come vote! We will have lunch on us.

We need YOU!

Angela Peacock
WUVets President
MSW Candidate ’19
